Siddhartha
One topic that really captured my attention was the decision for Siddhartha to leave Govinda behind on his travels. During the group discusion we talked about whether or not it was a good idea for Siddhartha to move on without Govinda. "In that moment, Govinda realized that his friend was leaving him and he began to weep". Govinda was shocked that is best friend did not want to swear alleigance to the illustrious one and wished to leave on his own path. Siddhartha wanted Govinda to do what he wanted to do instead of following Siddhartha his entire life. "Govinda, you have always gone one step behind me. Often I thought: will Govinda ever take a step without me". Govinda has always been Siddhartha's follower and Siddhartha thinks that this isnt really what Govinda wants and that he should follow his own path. In the end Govinda got to do what he truely wanted to. He swore his alleigance to the Ilustrious one and became a follower. Siddhartha got to continue on his own path to find someone to teach him how to reach Nirvana.
