PIE paragraph

Luke Skywalker and Victor
The character Victor in This is What It Means to Say Phoenix Arizona is a great example of the hero's path. Early, in the story Victor gets his "call to adventure" when he finds out his father has died. "Just after Victor lost his job at the BIA, he also found out that his father had died of a heart attack". So, the day would not have been too special until he found out he was going on a journey to Phoenix, Arizona to retrieve his father's body. This is similar to Luke Skywalker's "call to adventure" in Star Wars because he wanted to follow in his father's footsteps. At first, Victor refuses the call because he doesn't have enough money to get a plane ticket; this is his "refusal of the call". "You know there ain't anybody around with that kind of money". This is the point where Victor starts thinking that he can't go on his adventure because he doesn't have enough money. This is different from Luke's refusal of the call because Luke refused to go because his family needed him but in Victor's case he doesn't have a family to help. Thirdly, Victor joins up with Thomas Builds a Fire who becomes Victors "hero partner". "'I can lend you money if you need'… 'But you have to take me with you'". The hero couldn't have accomplished his task if his "hero partner" wasn't right along side of him every step of the way. This is extremely similar to Star Wars and Luke Skywalker because meets with R2D2 and C3PO who saved him in multiple situations while they were fighting on the death star. Although all the elements of the "Hero's Path" aren’t there Victor from "This is What It Means to Say Phoenix Arizona" is a great example when you think of a hero.
